About the Author
Sherwin Gluck, author of “T.R.’s Summer White House, Oyster Bay” (1999) is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics. “Private Good Luck” was born from childhood stories he heard about home-life in Europe and an extended interview with his father, Irving Gluck. The details of his story are supported by primary source material: photos, excerpts from a treasured collection of nearly one thousand family letters, official documents, extraordinarily rare Nazi records, as well as personal memorabilia. The author organized and sourced this collection so that a world, and the people in it, could be recreated 75 years after its destruction. The book is an ideal teaching aid for this critical period of world history and gives the student of history, a unique perspective on immigration, World War II, and the Holocaust.
